There are three things that you can only get in Washington D.C., The President, Go - Go Music and Mambo Sauce.
This electrifying group takes their name from the mystery sauce popular at Chinese/Soul Food carry - outs throughout DC. Just as nobody really knows what’s in Mambo Sauce (the sauce), Mambo Sauce’s (the band) musical virtuosity will always keep you guessing as to what’s coming next. Comprised of seven of DC’s most proficient, young musicians, Mambo Sauce has created a new form of music, “Pocket” that effectively blends DC Go - Go percussion with well crafted songs, explosive raps and sultry melodies.

Put Go - Go music, Kanye West, No Doubt and Outkast in a blender. Blend until the top pops off, and that might scratch the surface of where Mambo Sauce is going. As Techno, House, Trance and Jungle are all forms of Dance music, and Dub, Dancehall and Ska are all variations of Reggae, “Pocket” is likewise a new, but similar form of Go - Go. By incorporating elements of a variety of music ranging from Latin to Soul, Hip - Hop to Rock into their songs, Mambo Sauce puts their individual stamp on the genre. As the only existing Go - Go band playing all original music at present, Mambo Sauce and their label Red C Records intend to use “Pocket” music, to infiltrate the international music market with the DC Go - Go sound.

Mambo Sauce is currently hard at work on their debut album. Recording in Baltimore at Wright Way Studios (Dru Hill, Mario, Evan Taubenfeld (Guitarist for Avril Lavigne), Fertile Ground, Hezekiah Walker, 2 Live Crew, Crystal Waters) with head engineer/producer, Steve Wright and is due for release in mid 2008.

Assembled by Red C Records founder William “Malachai” Johns, this talented, young group of musicians has come together with a burning desire to see Go - Go music make its mark outside of DC. After almost 30 years of being the dominant force in urban music throughout the region, Go - Go’s time to become internationally recognized is now, and Mambo Sauce has the drive and the ability to make it happen!

…and you can put that one in your “Pocket”!

The Band

Alfred “Black Boo” Duncan - Lead Vocals - Black’s spitfire flow could be heard in and around D.C. with local rap group The Difference and his former live project, D.C. Unplugged. His insightful lyrics while still enticing you to shake what you’ve got, set him apart from the majority of D.C. rappers who are, for the most part, only concerned with thuggery and misogyny.

Yendy Brown - Lead Vocals - Yendy has previously done extensive work in the studio with superstar producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins and a host of other notable producers. She's sung background with Brandy and Deborah Cox and spent 3 years as a background singer for Aaliyah before she passed.

Jermaine "Pep" Cole - Percussion - Pep has performed with multiple bands including; 4 Sho, Simplicity, Urban Funk, Gods Blend, Xodus, and The Firm Project, in addition to cameo performances with other Go-Go bands like Publicity and After Hours.

Andrew “Drew” White - Lead Guitar - Although one of the youngest of the group, Andrew still has an impressive history which includes tenure with R&B songstress Mya, DC, R&B crooner & Grammy Nominee Raheem Devaughn in addition to popular go - go bands, the Northeast Groovers, Optimystic Trybe, Third Dimension, Uncalled For Band and Black Alley.

Christian “Lil’ Chris” Wright - Keyboards - Chris has also been a member of Northeast Groovers and S.O.U.L.O and has since become one of the city’s most sought after freelance keyboardists performing with, Occupation, Raw Image and Suttle Thoughts.

Khari Pratt - Bass - Khari was the founding member of D.C.’s Northeast Groover’s and is quite possibly the most respected bass player in the go – go industry.

Patricia “Twink” Little - Drums - The newest member of Mambo Sauce, Twink has been a member of S.O.U.L.O and 4 Sho and has performed with many Go - Go and R&B artists in the DC area.
